When we go to God in prayer, He doesn’t cut His eyes at us as if we were interrupting some great thought or as if He had someone much more important to talk to. The promise of Scripture is “He hears us.” He doesn’t hear us because we’ve been so perfect or religious, He hears us because He loves the people He has made. He receives our prayers like a grandmother receives her visiting grandchildren, like a mother receives her children home from being at camp, or a spouse receives his or her loved one come home from a tour of duty. Doesn't “God so loved the world…” imply that He loves to hear from us!
So…instead of tapping your fingers impatiently next time you are stuck in the drive through, why not make His day and say “Hello”? Instead of recounting your worries one by one, why not bring them to God? Worry and impatience don’t add to your life – they steal life from you. Talking to the God who loves you, on the other hand, brings Him joy and will do more good for you than you’ll ever know!
